Radar Unit Arrives for More Tests
A radar unit to support an upcoming Missile Defense Agency flight test arrived in Juneau Saturday. It was taken to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration facility at Lena Point after being flown from the Pacific Missile Range facility in, Hawaii. The agency explains in a press release that as done in the previous flight test, this is a temporary deployment and the radar will be removed from the site shortly after the test is completed. The test is scheduled for the December-January time frame, with a target vehicle being launched from the Kodiak Launch Complex and an interceptor being launched from Vandenberg AFB. The radar will be used to track the target vehicle.
